The Long Island School Library Association (LISLA), formerly SSLMA, is the local affiliate for New York Library Association - Section of School Librarians (NYLA - SSL).


The mission of the New York Library Association/Section of School Librarians is to lead school librarians in advancing the profession; to encourage, promote, and advocate the interests of school library programs, school librarians, and school library systems; and to ensure that each student becomes an active reader, responsible information-seeker, and critical thinker.


 


Overview

The Regents Advisory Council on Libraries, or RAC, was established by the Board of Regents in 1894 "to serve as a library council with whom the University officers may consult whenever the advice or cooperation of experts may be desirable."

The Regents Advisory Council will act as an advocate for libraries, library staff, and library trustees.
