Virtual Reference Collection Support: VRC Database Vendors

Training and support for the following resources: ABC-CLIO, Britannica CQ Researcher, EBSCO, FactCite, Gale, Infobase, NewBank, NoodleTools ProQuest, Rosen, Soundzabound, TeachingBooks, WorldBook and selected Supplemental items

What is the VRC?

  • The VRC is a group of subscription databases purchased from Eastern Suffolk BOCES School Library System
  • Available 24/7 to students, staff and parents from any computer with internet access
  • Three collections of databases (elementary, middle, and high school) chosen specifically to support the curricula, research needs, and reading levels of students enrolled in particular grades

Information to the User

to June 30, 2026 Infobase Health Reference Center has been added to the HS VRC pages. We thank the Long Island Library Resources Council (LILRC) for providing this resource to all three LI SLSs.

 

ending June 30, 2025 - On March 11, 2025 DK Gale Eyewitness eBooks have moved form their own link the Gale eBooks for access. At the end of the school year, they will be weeded from the collection.


ended June 30, 2024 - Year long trial for National Geographic Kids has been removed from the ES VRC pages.

ended June 30, 2024 - Year long trials for Rosen Digital Literacy and Financial Literacy have been removed from the HS VRC pages.

December 28, 2022 onward - USA Today has been removed as its own database from the VRC.  It can now be found in ProQuest Multiple Databases on the VRC.
